Book Review: The Runaways, Volume 1

This book is actually a compilation of the first 3 volumes in the Runaways series: Pride & Joy, Teenage Wasteland, and The Good Die Young. The premise is simple yet innovative: six teens inadvertently discover that their parents are evil. Not "won't let me stay out late" evil, but "I have super powers and am going to use them to bring down all of mankind" evil. The teens flee after witnesses a blood sacrifice and make plans to bring down their folks. The color illustrations are excellent and the cover art interspersed throught the book is nothing short of amazing. A must read for graphic novel fans. This is a great story with really compelling characters and awesome graphics - only problem is waiting for the next installment.
